Membership Update
Membership at the end of May stood at 47,348 representing a 2% drop from the beginning of the year and a 6.5% decrease from the same month a year ago. I strongly believe that these figures might be much worse if not for the tireless efforts of Region leadership in continuing to put on first class, safe events that members enjoy being involved in and the dedication our members have to the club. At the end of April, Club Racing entrants were down 15%, while the number of events has remained the same as last year. Some Regions have experienced stability and even increased entries over 2008, while others have been down significantly. The bright spot continues to be workers don't seem to be in short supply compared to 2008. Solo and Rally programs are currently operating at about the same levels as they were in 2008.
SCCA Welcomes Allegheny Highlands Chapter - CPR
We are pleased to announce that Allegheny Highlands Chapter of Central Pennsylvania Region is the latest group to join our club. SCCA member Dave Mohar will serve as the Chapter's charter President and has big plans on growing the central-southwest portion of Pennsylvania. Situated between Steel Cities Region and the Central Pennsylvania Region's primary operations, State College PA, Allegheny Highlands has found an ideal Solo and TRSS School site. The local community is excited about the opportunity and has been very supportive. Allegheny Highland's first event will be a two-day Solo over the July 4th weekend and has already drawn significant interest from local technical shool students. We wish them great success!!!
